Thailand’s Busy Maya Bay On Koh Phi Phi Leh

Maya Bay is stunningly beautiful (as seen here), and has become the main tourist attraction of Phi Phi since Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Beach was filmed here in the late ’90s. Gorgeous it is, secluded it isn’t – thousands of people visit each day. Try to visit early in the morning (before 8:00am) or later on (after 5:00pm) to avoid massive crowds.

When planning your trip, be aware that you can only visit Maya Bay (on Koh Phi Phi Leh) from November to April, as large waves make the entrance dangerous for boats during the other months of the year. From Krabi or Phuket, you can take a ferry, rent a longtail boat, or charter a private speedboat (like we did) which included stops at all Phi Phi Islands.

If you’re looking for seclusion, head on over to nearby Bamboo Island to feel like you’re truly on an amazing deserted island!
