Part of Unlisted Collection’s Singapore properties – including Wanderlust Hotel and Hotel 1929 – New Majestic Hotel is an eclectic boutique accommodation nestled in a traditional conservation shophouse in Chinatown.
Touted as Singapore’s first Design Hotel, New Majestic features an emphasis on strong decor, local culture and the arts. History is seamlessly blended with modernity and international design with regional inspiration. From the open concept period-inspired lobby with restored vintage Compton fans and antique barber chairs to its original local art pieces, New Majestic Hotel is a unique mix of heritage chic.
Appealing to the über hip traveler, all of New Majestic’s 30 guest rooms are different. From the mix of vintage and designer furniture through to the customized baths, room highlights include suites with private gardens, and attic style rooms with loft beds in towering, six-metre high ceilings. Lifestyle rooms offer balconies overlooking the excitement on Bukit Pasoh Road.
The hotel also features five design concept rooms personalized by top creative individuals from unique disciplines. These virtuosos, all given free-rein over their individual rooms, are some of Asia’s top graphic artists, film directors, fashion designers, and furniture architects.
Critically-acclaimed film & theatre director, Glen Goei, designed the Wayang room (pictured above). From its red silk walls to the customized calligraphy panels, Glen’s room is inspired by legendary movies such as Raise the Red Lantern and Judou.
We stayed in the most extravagant and outrageous room in the New Majestic Hotel. Designed by sought-after fashion show producer, Daniel Boey, The Pussy Parlour features fuchsia and turquoise accents, French chandeliers, a striking brass bed, neon lights and ceiling mirrors! He designed the room to be an over-the-top party-den inspired by the photography of celebrity lensman, David Lachapelle.
Our fantastic in-room amenities included complimentary wireless internet access, non-alcoholic drinks in the minibar, Nespresso coffee maker, Bose stereo with iPod dock, Philips LCD TV, and high quality toiletries from the cult beauty and skincare brand, Kiehl’s. Our cozy bed featured niche luxe brand, Ploh, which focuses on generously filled feather pillows and lightweight white goose down duvets. They also provided exceptionally soft bathrobes to make our experiences as comfortable as possible. Here is our brief video overview New Majestic Hotel:
