9 to 5 Travel was graciously hosted by the Delta Burnaby Hotel & Conference Centre last weekend to experience all the hotel has to offer. Located just 30 minutes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and a mere 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver by SkyTrain or highway, Delta Burnaby is only a short drive from our home in Kitsilano. When we pulled up to its entrance, the first thing we noticed was the lovely palm trees lining the street; our staycation was beginning to feel like a true holiday!
Before checking-in at the front desk, we made use of the complimentary secured parking provided for all hotel guests. Plenty of additional amenities are offered at this pet-friendly hotel including a full-facility health club with a sauna and outdoor hot tub. A Starbucks Coffee outlet is conveniently located in the hotel lobby for java fiends like ourselves, so a great cup of joe is never far from reach.
Apart from its exquisite EBO Restaurant (where we got to experience a fantastic dinner and breakfast) another highlight of the Delta Burnaby is the Grand Villa Casino – located right beside EBO. This 100,000 square foot casino showcases over 1,000 slot machines, VIP rooms, dining and beverage options and its Scala Show Lounge, a 180-seat theatre, provides entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays.
With 200 guest rooms and suites, we were fortunate to stay on the Delta Signature Club Floor. Situated on the 20th level of the hotel, our room was lavishly styled with soothing blue and gray tones and featured a comfy king size bed. The iPod/iPhone docking station was an appreciated feature, while complimentary wireless high speed internet access was helpful when we needed a quick check-in to our business. Plush bath robes were provided for added comfort and our bathroom was stocked with products from June Jacobs Spa Collection, a luxury skincare brand from NYC–I loved its paraben and preservative free grapefruit purifying shower gel.
Since we were staying on the Club Floor, we had access to the hotel’s exclusive Signature Club Lounge. The relaxing lounge is styled with sumptuous textiles and lustrous furnishings, and provides beautiful views of the North Shore Mountains. The club includes complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres, espresso machine, honor bar, selection of daily newspapers and magazines, board games, large flat screen TV and wireless internet.
In terms of Delta’s famous “Straight from the Heart” service standards, this hotel is no exception. Staff go above and beyond to make sure their guests have the best experience possible and we’ve been on both sides of this exchange: Gary worked for Delta on Vancouver Island (while I worked for a rival hotel) and we’ve stayed at Delta, and its sister company Fairmont, properties in the USA and Canada on numerous occasions. If you live in Vancouver and are looking for the perfect weekend getaway, or are planning a trip to BC from elsewhere around the globe, then look no further than the Delta Burnaby Hotel!
