Pork ‘n’ Spice ‘n’ All Things Nice with a Social Networking Founder

Dr. Leslie Tay wasn’t the only famous Singaporean we were lucky to meet up with during our trip to the little red dot. We also had lunch with the folks from SimplyTweet and they suggested we sample a popular Chinese dish in Singapore and other parts of South East Asia called Bak Kut Teh. The […]

Yin & Yang at the Shangri-La

One of the tasty appetizers we were served during our seaside dinner at Singapore’s Barnacles Seafood Restaurant at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort was “Yin and Yang”. It was a beautifully presented dish consisting of crunchy prawns with a spicy wasabi sauce beside crispy squid with a sweet honey glaze, and separated by thinly sliced cucumber.

Luxury Hawker Food At Straights Kitchen Grand Hyatt Singapore

Luxury-hawker food sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? To me, and others alike, hawker food in Singapore is luxurious; it’s the ultimate foodie paradise. Like Anthony Bourdain so accurately proclaimed on No Reservations, “If you love food, Singapore just might be the best place on earth”. And it’s a measure of how food crazy they […]

Food Republic, Wisma Atria, Orchard Road, Singapore

Food Republic is a food court chain run by the BreadTalk Group (including Toast Box) based in Singapore. Although, they have outlets in Hong Kong as well (we tried their Olympian City location). We visited their location at Wisma Atria on Singapore’s famous Orchard Road (where we ate ice cream sandwiches with bread, and saw […]

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe – Singapore

On our last day in Singapore this year while staying at Elaine & Tom’s lovely Mandarin Gardens home, we were walking along East Coast Road and stumbled upon Xin Wang. It looked like a cute and funky café, so we popped in for a bite to eat. Xin Wang Hong Kong Café is, as you […]

936 LTN Food Village Pte Ltd – East Coast, Singapore

The food village (a short walk from Mandarin Gardens) was the first stop we made after our awesome friends Tom & Elaine picked us up from Changi Airport. Now this is the kind of hawker center I remember from years ago: Open-air, plastic chairs, and all. If you’re unfamiliar with hawkers, they’re groups of food […]

East Coast Lagoon Food Village – Singapore’s Ultimate Seafood Hawker Center

Singapore has its fare share of upscale bars & restaurants, like Marina Bay Sands, Jumbo and Tanjong Beach Club, but food-mad locals (and tourists) salivate for hawker centers – open-air food courts where each stall serves one dish, and they do it well! This hawker center, which sits in the tropical beach of East Coast […]
