After seeing the Amazing Race contestants run ice cream sandwich carts in Singapore, we wanted to try one while we were in the city. Why? Well these tasty treats are not your regular ice cream sandwiches, they are literally sandwiches – with real bread!
While shopping on Orchard Road, we noticed King’s Ice Cream cart directly in front of the LV and Dior stores, and across the street from one of the world’s smallest McDonald’s and Topshop. Could it be? Could King’s Ice Cream be vending ‘real’ ice cream sandwiches? Sure enough, it was!
Flavours varied from South East Asian favourites like durian, mango, and sweet corn, to traditional flavours like chocolate, chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, and raspberry ripple. We opted for a sweet ‘n tangy mango ice cream, we since we were in the tropics after all.
How did it taste? Well, the mulitcoloured bread sandwiched around the ice cream was a soft, sweet bread – so it paired nicely with the rich and creamy ice cream. It was delicious! What a great way to cool down in Singapore’s humid streets.
